“The soul is a castle made entirely out of a diamond or a very clear crystal, in which there are many rooms.” — Saint Teresa of Avila
St. Teresa of Avila, while incredibly active on an earthly level, remains most known for her inner spiritual journey and the cataloging of this journey through her many writings. — “Women Will Save the World”
Saint Teresa (not to be confused with Mother Teresa who was also a saint) was a highly intuitive woman who used her words to save the world. She was a prominent Spanish mystic born in 1515. She feared marriage as she disliked how it confined women, and she entered a convent at age 20. She suffered a severe bout of malaria and was suspected dead — to the point that her grave was dug before she recovered.
Later, she saw and spoke with God, Jesus, and angels. She levitated during Mass and in the convent. She also experienced her heart being pierced by the “lance of an angel.” She shared her journey for peace through her books. She was canonized by Pope Gregory XV in 1622.
